The challenges of fragility, conflict and violence are more urgent than ever. The Igarapé Institute works with international and national partners in the United Nations, but also governments and civil society, to promote peace and stability. This means critical engagement with United Nations Security Council reform, the responsibilities of states to protect civilians in conflict, the transformation of peace support operations, strengthening civilian capacities for peacebuilding, rethinking the place of gender and peace-keeping and much more.
The Igarapé Institute is also working to increase attention and investment in sustainable development, including the production of new global goals to increase safety, security, justice and governance. The Institute works with multilateral organizations, bilateral agencies and non-governmental organizations on South South Cooperation across the Americas, Africa and Asia.
