Climate change and security in West Africa

The Igarape Institute has prepared a series of products on the relationship between climate security and violence in West Africa. In addition to a report and a bulletin the Institute also published a strategic article. It provides an analysis of the current and potential threats that climate change poses to security in West Africa. The intensification of the heat is contributing to more intense droughts and scarcity of rains, which, in turn, decrease the water supply for people and for agriculture.
