Igarapé
at COP 27

Igarapé will highlight several of its program’s central elements on national, regional, and international climate and security in discussions and panels at #COP27. The program focuses on how to effectively facilitate Brazil’s trajectory to become a leader in sustainability and in promoting an egalitarian green transition at the global level; foster regional and cross-sector collaboration to reduce deforestation and combat the ecosystem of environmental crime in the Amazon Basin; and accelerate collective climate actions by UN member countries, civil society and the private sector by way of inclusive, multilateral networks to find solutions that address present and future consequences of the climate emergency.

Our actions in the area of #Climate Security include developing cutting-edge studies and new technologies to identify, monitor and analyze climate threats and environmental crimes; supporting enforcement of environmental laws; helping to improve supply chains; and fostering sustainable development.

What is COP27?

The United Nations Climate Change Conference is among the largest international meetings in the world. Negotiations between governments are complex and involve authorities from all countries, as well as representatives from civil society and the global media.

The 2022 edition, the “COP of implementation”, is aimed at furthering the implementation of the rules in the Paris Agreement, signed at COP21. Between November 6 and 18, 2022, more than 190 world leaders, and thousands of negotiators, government representatives, businesspeople, and individuals will be discussing topics relevant to the fight against the climate emergency.
