Under control: Successful drug policy pathways

The next United Nations General Assembly Special Session on drugs (UNGASS) about drugs in 2016 provides a new opportunity to review national policies and the future of the global drug control regime. As diplomats reunite to rethink international and domestics drug policies, they must consider the UN mandate and ensure safety, human rights and development. Health is the axis that unite these three sectors. The UN drugs global control has the ‘health and mankind well-being’ as its major objective. But undeniable evidences show not only the regime’s failure on achieving its goals, but also the terrible consequences that goes with punitive laws and policies.
