Brodie Ferguson

Brodie Ferguson is a scientist and technology entrepreneur interested in the spatial aspects of interactions between people and their natural environment. He currently is Founder and CEO of EcoLens, an environmental data analytics platform for monitoring ecosystems and managing climate risk. In 2007 he founded Anthrotect, a California-based company focused on climate change mitigation through the management of tropical landscapes by avoiding deforestation and restoring degraded forests.

Prior to Anthrotect, he worked as a scientist in the Evidence and Information for Policy cluster at the World Health Organization and as a consultant to government and multilateral organizations.

Brodie routinely advises businesses and civil society groups on new technologies for environmental management. Since 2013, he has served as Chairman of the Board of Mongabay, a non-profit environmental science and conservation news platform. During this time, Mongabay has become one of the world’s foremost organizations for environmental journalism, with over 350 contributors across 50 countries reaching 2.5 million readers per month in 2018.

Brodie holds a B.A. from Tulane University, a master’s degree in public health from Johns Hopkins University, and a Ph.D. in anthropology from Stanford University.
