Business Leaders in Latin America Endorse Principles Against Environmental Crime at United for Wildlife Global Summit

CEOs and business leaders in Latin America have endorsed a new set of principles that both recognises the serious risk that environmental crime poses to ecosystems, economies, and communities and affirms the private sector’s commitment to take concrete, collaborative, and transparent action against such crimes.

The principles were announced following discussions at a private roundtable session held at The Royal Foundation’s United for Wildlife Global Summit in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil on 4 November.

Convened by United for Wildlife and the Igarapé Institute, 18 leaders from the private sector committed – either as business leaders, or on behalf of their organisations. These principles recognise the serious risk that environmental crime poses to ecosystems, economies, and communities, and affirm the private sector’s responsibility to take concrete, collaborative, and transparent actions to combat these crimes.
