The ISPGEO platform features crime hotspots across the state of Rio de Janeiro. The tool integrates several databases into a unified map interface. ISPGEO discriminates between a range of crime types and features temporal. ISPGEO standardizes crime data and displays areas with high and low prevalence. The platform is intended to improve then efficiency and effectiveness of police resource deployment and increase overall prevention capabilities.
ISPGEO draws on occurrence records managed by the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro occurrence. It will soon integrate 190 hotline information (collected by the Military Police) together with other relevant datasets managed by the police. ISPGEO is managed by Rio de Janeiro’s Public Security Institute (ISP). The platform donated to the state by a group of concerns businessmen, in partnership with Igarapé Institute.
