Indranil Chakrabarti is head of the DFID team in Brazil and Development Counsellor of the British Embassy. He joined DFID in 2005 and has been posted in technical advisory and management roles to Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and now Brazil. Prior to joining DFID he worked in variety of roles in international development, in Latin America and India, including as an adviser to Nobel prize winner Kailash Satyarthi.

PhD from the London School of Economics, from 2002-2005 he worked for the Financial Services Authority (FSA) as a Prudential Supervisor of a major UK financial group.  His interests include urbanization, the role of emerging powers in poverty reduction beyond their borders and the role of the private sector in developments outcomes.
